Atiku, a presidential hopeful, accused Tinubu and Gilbert Chagoury of having a business relationship that contravenes procurement laws. Atiku claimed that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway was being constructed in a hurry due to this alleged business relationship. The former vice-president referred to a recent report by the Africa Intelligence News Agency that stated Seyi is a formalised business partner with the owners of Hitech Construction Company Ltd. VP Shettima is set to represent Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit. The statement released on May 5 by Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, was reported by The Nation and This Day newspaper. Atiku’s statement reads: “Our suspicions have been confirmed that Chagoury and Tinubu are indeed business partners. Seyi’s presence on the board of one of Chagoury’s firms formalized their relationship, thanks to quality reporting by Africa Intelligence.”
