Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has shared insights he believes Nigeria can take from the recent U.S. election.
Following reports that Republican candidate Donald Trump won against Democrat Kamala Harris, Atiku, who ran as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 election, emphasized the importance of Nigeria learning from the integrity of the U.S. electoral process.
He stated, “The key lesson for Nigeria is the importance of a transparent process that leads to credible results.”
Atiku expressed hope that the Trump administration will remain committed to supporting free and fair elections in Nigeria and globally. He also congratulated the American people for their commitment to democracy, praising their belief in the power of voting as a testament to the strength of the people’s voice.
