Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has voiced concern over the growing hopelessness among young Nigerians amid hardship, election irregularities, and poor governance.
In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Atiku said he feels saddened each time young people express frustration over the country’s situation, stressing that real change cannot happen if voter apathy continues.
He noted that the consistent 25% to 30% voter turnout during elections shows a worrying lack of engagement among citizens, especially the youth.
Atiku shared that he recently met with a group of young Nigerians from the 19 northern states, led by Alhaji Adamu Bappa Gombe, who expressed doubts about the credibility of elections and the negative impact of government policies on their livelihoods.
Encouraging them not to lose hope, Atiku emphasized that transformation in Nigeria will only come through the ballot box. He urged them to mobilize others and ensure massive youth participation in the 2027 elections, assuring that he remains committed to helping the country recover from anti-democratic forces.
