Social media is buzzing with speculation about popular Afrobeats star Asake reportedly leaving YBNL and parting ways with the label’s founder, Olamide.
The rumors gained traction after Asake unfollowed Olamide on Instagram, removed YBNL from his bio, and deleted all his posts.
According to Cutie Juls, a well-known entertainment gossip blogger, Asake’s contract with YBNL has expired. Although Olamide reportedly offered him a new contract, Asake chose not to renew the deal.
The blogger claimed that Olamide made significant efforts to convince Asake to stay but was unsuccessful. Allegedly, negotiations ended two weeks ago when Asake walked away, deciding to pursue an independent career.
The blog post stated:
“Asake has left YBNL and parted ways with Olamide. Insiders reveal that his contract with YBNL ended, and despite Olamide’s attempts to offer a renewal, Asake declined.”
“Olamide reportedly did everything possible to keep Asake under his label, but the singer ultimately refused. The turning point occurred two weeks ago when Asake exited the deal, aiming to become his own boss.”
The post concluded with hopes for reconciliation, noting that Olamide may now be seeking new talent.
Asake joined YBNL in 2022, skyrocketing to fame with his hit song Sungba and achieving remarkable success, including selling out the O2 Arena twice.
