Just two names remain as the Senate resumes its review of President Bola Tinubu’s nominations for ministerial positions.
Out of the seven people mentioned on the order paper from Saturday, the Senate screened Mariya Mahmud Bunkere (Kano) on Monday, August 7.
Festus Keyamo, however, had a slight wait when it was his turn to speak as the Senate entered into executive session.
Festus Keyamo, SAN, a candidate from Delta State, is now being examined by the Nigerian Senate.
This occurs shortly after Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, the ministerial candidate from Kano State, was vetted at the red chamber on Monday, August 7, 2023 in the afternoon.
On August 7, senators had concerns about Keyamo’s screening, which are still open.
Senator Darlighton Nwkocha supported a proposal made by a few senators to investigate Keyamo’s prior ministerial activities.
An executive session of the Senate was convened.
The legislators came to the conclusion that Keyamo ought to vacate his position until the National Assembly has conducted an investigation into his previous ministerial appointment and ministry.

On Saturday, August 4, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari of the Oyo North Senatorial District confronted the Ogun State cabinet nominee.
Sen. Buhari stated:
“On the 21st of July 2019, Dr Bosun tweeted against Nigeria that he does not appreciate the Nigerian passport and Nigeria as a nation.”
Festus Keyamo, a former minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari, was also named by the president to represent Delta state in the new correspondence.
In the run-up to the February 25 presidential election, Keyamo also acted as the campaign spokesperson for the Bola Tinubu presidential campaign council.
