Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president in 2023, and his team have remained silent on the publication of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic transcripts.
According to Naija News, the Chicago State University (CSU) disclosed the document in accordance with the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division District Court’s ruling.
The court had on Saturday ordered the CSU to provide Atiku access to Tinubu’s academic records so that he may contest the outcome of the most recent presidential election.
The change occurred as a result of U.S. Federal Judge Nancy Maldonado adopting all of Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert’s decisions from the U.S. District Court in a memo of opinion and order.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Tinubu had objected to the Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert judgement directing the CSU to immediately provide the academic records.
The president had claimed that making the documents and deposition public would seriously injure him because they were personal to him and could not be used in the ongoing lawsuit in Nigeria against him.
Nevertheless, Atiku had submitted a further appeal, which prompted Judge Maldonado to compel the documents’ release within 48 hours.
Details of the documents Atiku requested to be made public revealed that CSU complied with his request for a true, accurate copy of the Bachelor of Science diploma awarded in 1979. Bates was also identified as CSU 0001 through 0007 with the student’s name obscured, which the university claimed was done so for privacy reasons.
The institution, however, claimed it was unable to find a valid and accurate copy of the diploma it awarded Tinubu in 1979.
The revelation of President Tinubu’s academic credentials has not yet prompted any comments from the former vice president as of the time this item was filed.
Additionally, Phrank Shaibu, the Atiku spokesperson, has not made any statements regarding the development and remained silent when called for comment.
After checking his X (previously Twitter) page, one of the PDP flagbearer’s media aides, Daniel Bwala, has also not responded to the development.
