On Saturday, 14 passengers narrowly avoided death when a commercial bus carrying them and the driver caught fire on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
One of the tires of the Toyota Hiace, with the license plate AFN117YL, burst as it was traveling to Ilorin from Lagos’ Ijora motor park.
As the bus came to a stop in the middle of the road, it instantly caught fire.
Fortunately, no passengers were injured by the fire, but some did suffer scrapes and bruises while trying to escape the flaming bus.
The fire destroyed every item that belonged to the passengers. Some people lost their phones, shoes, and crucial papers in the fire.
