The Kaduna State Government has admitted that it buried no fewer than 347 members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, popularly known as Shiites, following the confrontation with the Nigerian Army in December last year.
The Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Alhaji Lawal Babalare Abbas, was said to have admitted on Monday to the burial in a mass grave.
Abbas, according to a statement by the IMN, made the admission before the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the killing of at least 1,000 members of the IMN, which is headed by Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
The clash between the Nigerian Army and the Shiites occurred in Zaria, Kaduna State between December 12 and 14, 2015.
Abbas said he was present at the mass burial along with soldiers at the burial site in the town of Mando.
Abbas said the corpses were removed from the teaching hospital and the Nigerian Army depot in Zaria.
They were buried at between 12am and 4am on December 14.
