Armed robbers on Wednesday night raided the home of Nollywood star, Nkem Owoh, at Phase 6 Trans-Ekulu Layout Enugu.
The robbers carted away properties worth millions of naira from his home, including his newly acquired black coloured Mitsubishi Montero Jeep worth about N8 million.
Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, was not at home when the robbers broke into his house, a duplex, as he was said to be in Lagos where he was shooting a movie.
When journalists visited his home on Thursday, the place looked deserted and there was nobody around to speak on the matter.
However, when reached on phone, Owoh confirmed the incident, saying he lost his laptop, video camera and Jeep to the hoodlums.
Owoh described the incident as “very unfortunate”, adding that he had reported the matter to the Enugu State Police Command for necessary action.
When contacted on telephone, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Enugu State Command, Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed that hoodlums broke into Owoh’s home.
He however said it was not a case of armed robbery, but car theft and burglary.
“Yes, the man was away from his home and some people who knew that he was not at home took advantage of his absence and broke into his house.
“The hoodlums made away with his Jeep. But, it is not a case of armed robbery or armed banditry as you are portraying it”, Amaraizu said.
The latest incident occurred three days after the South East Governors Forum set up a committee headed by General Officer Command (GOC) 82 Division, Major General Olayinka Osinowo, saddled with the responsibility of producing a security road map for the zone.
The committee was given two weeks to conclude its assignment.
Chairman of the forum and Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, disclosed this after a meeting of Joint Committee of the Security Councils of all the various states in the South East, held at Government House, Enugu, on Sunday.
