Popular social media commentator, Verydarkman, has come under fire after criticizing the Sultan of Sokoto for referring to social media as a “terrorist organization.”
In a recent post, Verydarkman rejected the Sultan’s call for strict regulation of social media, arguing that many people have used the platforms to promote positive change and that such a blanket label is unfair.
His comments have since stirred controversy, particularly in Northern Nigeria. In response, Ambassador Abdul DanBature, President of the Northern Nigerian Youths (Arewa Youths), has issued a stern warning.
In a video message, DanBature demanded that Verydarkman retract his statement and publicly apologize to the Sultan and the Northern community within 48 hours.
He said:
“My name is Ambassador Abdul DanBature, President of the Northern Nigerian Youths. I want to address Verydarkman regarding his recent comments about our father and royal leader, the Sultan of Sokoto. We’re calling on him to immediately withdraw his statement and tender a public apology to both the Sultan and Northern Nigerians. We are giving him 48 hours to do so. Thank you.”
