The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that applications are now open for the 2024 Airmen and Airwomen Basic Military Training Course. In a statement released on Wednesday, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Bakari, Chief of Air Staff, emphasized that applicants should submit only one online application, as multiple submissions will lead to disqualification.
Bakari noted that after completing the online application, candidates should print out the acknowledgment form, parent/guardian consent form, and local government attestation form. These documents must be signed by a military officer or a local government chairman.
The statement outlined the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a National Identity Card/NIN or BVN.
- Male applicants must be at least 1.66 meters tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.63 meters tall.
- Candidates must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit and free from any criminal convictions.
For non-tradesmen and women, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 22 years, and those born before September 20, 2003, are ineligible. Applicants must have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in no more than two sittings of WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB exams.
For tradesmen and women, candidates must be between 18 and 25 years old, with those born before September 20, 2000, ineligible. Applicants in this category must also have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in no more than two sittings.
For specialized positions such as chaplain, Imam assistant, drivers, and mechanics, the age range is 18 to 28 years, and applicants born before September 20, 1997, are not eligible.
Candidates with ND/NCE qualifications must have at least a lower credit from accredited institutions and meet the minimum five-credit requirement.
Trades such as carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and others require applicants to possess trade test certificates and a minimum of two passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, with a credit in English.
For professions allied to medicine, applicants must have an ND from recognized institutions and a valid practicing license. Sports applicants need to provide evidence of experience, including certificates and medals.
Online registration is open from August 21 to October 2, 2024. The zonal recruitment aptitude test will begin on October 8, 2024.
