A suicide bomber dressed like a woman this morning detonated a bomb at ECWA church in Wusasa area of Zaria this morning.

According to a source, gun fighting is still ongoing between the police and unidentified gunmen at the scene of a second suicide attack on the  premises of the CKC church on Yoruba Road in Sabon Gari,Zaria.

 

Meanwhile as we were about going to press, a bomb blast was reported to have gone off at Shalom Church,Tirkaniya in Kaduna city.

 

Islamist militants attacked two churches in Nigeria last Sunday, spraying the congregation of one with bullets, killing at least one person, and blowing up a car in a suicide bombing at the other, wounding 41.

 

The Islamists’ leader, Abubakar Shekau, has justified attacks on Christians as revenge for killings of Muslims in Nigeria’s volatile “Middle Belt”, where the largely Christian south and mostly Muslim north meet.

Update: Reports from Kaduna have it that youths in that city are planning reprisal attacks targeted at Muslim populated areas

The bomb blasts which occurred earlier today were in the christian quarters of the city.

 

Update 2: An eyewitness says the Kaduna -Abuja express road has been  blocked by angry youth.This development led people to send messages on social media urging travellers to avoid Abuja-Kaduna road now.

 

A report said Wusasa ECWA church was completely blasted with people still inside holding their church service.A  witness said an aircraft was sighted hovering over the church before the blast. Strangely,all the soldiers earlier stationed in the area were evacuated 24 hours before the blast.Security men arrived 4o minutes afterward and they allegedly fired sporadically into the air .They also arrested a suspected passer-by.

 Update 3:Commercial buses are refusing to ply the southern part of the city as Christians also deserted their churches located in the northern part.

 

Many residents are expressing fears that unless the government and security forces quickly take decisive action, the highly volatile situation could escalate into a bloody religious crises.

 

The latest attack is coming exactly one week after a church was bombed in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

    Let’s join hands together and send out all the enemies of Nigeria in whatever name they are called. They are strangers and may loose nothing killing men, women, children, christians.Boko haram is alien to Nigeria.
