Lola Ade-John, the minister of tourism, is reportedly in the hospital in Abuja after allegedly becoming acutely poisoned for reasons that are still unknown.
Her family was concerned that time was working against them in trying to save her life, according to Peoples Gazette.
According to the publication, the Minister was sent to the Federal Medical Center, Jabi, as soon as she began exhibiting symptoms of her poisoning.
According to family sources, Lola had been at the facility as of Friday morning for four days.
Although it was reported that she had been using a breathing machine, it was not immediately clear what exactly she had consumed or how.
The Minister’s family and the Ministry, however, are allegedly at odds over how she should be handled.
Ngozi Onwudike, the ministry’s permanent secretary, allegedly insisted that the minister not be transferred because the FMC is a public hospital and its services wouldn’t incur significant costs to the government, a claim that her family rejected. But according to our sources, they stayed with her since they were unable to acquire enough money to transfer her to a private hospital. On Friday morning, the permanent secretary’s phone number was unreachable.
