Tragedy has struck with the loss of Anas Al-Sharif, a 28-year-old Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent, who was killed in an Israeli strike on August 10, 2025. The attack took place near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, claiming the lives of five Al Jazeera staff members. Before his untimely death, Anas had been reporting live from Gaza, covering the heavy Israeli bombardment. He is survived by his wife, Bayan Sharif, and their two young children, Sham and Salah. This incident followed an earlier Israeli attack on Gaza City that killed 39 people at Al-Baqa Café, a well-known gathering place for journalists and residents.
