Head coach of Akwa United, Patrick Udoh, has tasked his players to be dedicated to the course of the team as they resumed preparations for the new season.
The former national team goalkeeper called on the players to be more active in the coming season and improve on their performance last season.
Having been saddled with the responsibility of guiding the team to a continental competition, Udoh hopes to put together a formidable squad that can compete for honours in the upcoming season to avoid the blood rush of the previous campaign.
United finished in 16th spot with 51 points after 38 matches last season, managing just 14 wins, nine draws and 15 losses to see off competition from Kwara United, ABS FC, Wikki Tourist and Shooting Stars and retain Premier League status.
“There is work to be done this season and we must all join hands together to achieve the set goals if we still want to be in the team.
“We really need to work very hard and improve from where we ended last season. Determination and dedication must be our watchword for the new season,” he told the players.
The team officially resumed its activities for the new calendar year on Thursday 2 January and the players have been training since then under the watchful eyes of Udoh.
