Ramesh Viswashkumar, the only survivor of the tragic Air India plane crash, is set to receive an interim compensation of ₹25 lakh (around $28,000) from the airline.
The devastating crash, which occurred on June 12, 2025, claimed the lives of 241 passengers, leaving the public and social media in shock. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
This new compensation is separate from the ₹1 crore (approximately $85,000 or ₦177.6 million) financial support already pledged by Tata Sons, the parent company of Air India.
The final insurance settlements will be handled in accordance with the Montreal Convention of 1999, which governs international air travel compensation. Air India has also committed to providing continuous assistance to both Ramesh Viswashkumar and the families of the deceased as they navigate through this painful period.
