The Indonesian military has pulled out of search and rescue efforts to recover the bodies of passengers on the ill-fated Air Asia flight QZ8501 which crashed off Indonesian coast, Head of Indonesia’s civilian search and rescue agency has announced.
70 bodies of the 162 people onboard have been recovered so far.
The military suspended its operation because it did not find the bodies of any more victims despite pulling out the plane’s fuselage.
Meanwhile, Bambang Soelistyo, the chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), told reporters on Wednesday that despite the military’s pull-out search teams will continue to work for at least a week more.
