Military authorities in Niger have declared that any transition process will take the nation three years.
This was announced on television by the head of the military coup, General Abdourahmane Tiani, shortly after a meeting with the ECOWAS negotiating team on Saturday night.
Tiani, who led the presidential guard before a coup deposed his boss, said that his goal was not to seize control.

General Tiani overthrew his boss, President Mohamed Bazoum, in a coup on July 26 while serving as the head of the Presidential Guard of the Niger Republic. International outrage over this occurrence led to pressure on him to abdicate his position.
