The PDP’s crisis is far from over, as the party’s BoT meeting with Governor Wike on Tuesday, October 4 ended in a stalemate. However, Adolphus Wabara, the acting chairman of the BoT, stated that the meeting made some progress. Wabara and Governor Wike addressed the media following the closed-door meeting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Adolphus Wabara, the acting chairman of the BoT, announced this during a press conference following the meeting.
He did, however, say that the seven-member BoT that met with Governor Wike at Government House in Port Harcourt made some progress, according to The Nation.
“We have not concluded. Making peace is difficult. But we have heard from his side. The family remains one. We shall achieve peace very soon,” the BoT chairman was quoted as saying.
Wabara stated that the meeting provided the BoT members with an opportunity to fully comprehend Governor Wike’s concerns. He stated that they would present their findings and position to the larger BoT meeting in Abuja.
The chairman of the BoT expressed confidence that the issues would be resolved. Wabara went on to say that Wike was an invaluable asset to the PDP, noting that the Rivers state governor’s infrastructure development was already campaigning for the party.
“We rubbed minds and we will find a solution very soon. Presidential campaign has started, he is campaigning for the party,” he said.
“Our Governor is a PDP governor, even if he doesn’t go out to campaign, he has campaigned already with all the projects he has delivered.”
Governor Wike stated in his remarks that it was critical for all of them to ensure the party’s unity was not jeopardized. He reiterated that he and his allies were not leaving the party, but were more concerned with resolving the internal conflicts.
