Barely 72 hours after news broke that popular Nigerian socialite and internet sensation Ramon Abbas, better known as Hushpuppi, had been sentenced to 11 years in prison, a short video of him video chatting with a friend from prison is making the rounds online.
We previously reported that Hushpuppi, who was arrested in Dubai in June 2020 and extradited to the United States for internet fraud and money laundering, will serve only nine years in prison because he has already served two years in the United States.
He was sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to engage in money laundering with multiple people both inside and outside the United States.
Hushpuppi was seen admiring his looks before appearing before a US judge in the viral video. He also stated that he never expected to be in the United States to answer for his crime.
His friend captioned the video, “Hushpuppi checked for me today.”
