Bandits have reportedly k!lled two young girls who were among those abducted from Janjala community in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims, identified as Abida and Ummi, were kidnapped on March 1, 2026, along with a vigilante member, his wife, and about 10 others.
The attackers initially demanded a ransom of ₦14 million. Despite repeated pleas from the families, the demand remained unchanged. Eventually, the families managed to raise ₦13 million, which was delivered to the kidnappers. Following the payment, some of the women were released, while the male captives were still held.
According to a local source who spoke to Daily Trust, the ransom was handed over at a location near Hayin Dam forest in neighboring Kachia Local Government Area on Saturday, April 4. After receiving the money, the bandits reportedly informed the families that the two girls had already been k!lled.
The source explained that the girls were allegedly executed after resisting attempts by some of the attackers to assault them.
“As the girls refused to allow the bandits r@pe them, their leader ordered them to be shot on the spot,” the source said.
The source further revealed that the bandits are still holding the male victims and have demanded the remaining ₦1 million, along with food supplies, before they can be released.
A security source also confirmed the k!lling of the two victims but did not provide additional details.
A community leader equally confirmed the development, saying the families were informed of the incident later.
“Infact, it was this afternoon one of the family members of the abducted victims called to inform us that two girls among the victims had been k!lled,” he said.
