Mohammad Qasim Fahim, one of Afghanistan’s two vice-presidents, has died.
According to a spokesman for the government he died aged 57 from natural causes.
The government has declared three days of mourning period, during which flags will be flown at half-mast.
Marshal Fahim was a leader of the Tajik ethnic minority and a former warlord.
