Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has spoken about the pressure and responsibility that come with playing for Nigeria’s national team.
In a recent interview with Counter Attack Podcast, the Atalanta star, who has earned 25 caps for Nigeria, shared his experiences. Lookman has scored eight goals for the national team, including three during the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
“Every time you get called up to play for the country, there’s pressure and responsibility,” Lookman told Counter Attack Podcast.
“Our country lives and breathes football. You see people on the streets wearing various football team shirts. Football is everything, so that responsibility is always there. Now that I’ve been here for three years, my responsibility is much higher than when I first joined.”
Lookman played a key role in Nigeria’s recent 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
