The abductors of Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT) Vice Chancellor Prof. Cyprian Onyeji have allegedly demanded N200 million ransom for his release.
We reported earlier that the VC was snatched at gunpoint in front of the university gate on Wednesday.
The Enugu police spokesman Ebere Amaraizu said the police had launched a manhunt for the kidnappers, he also confirmed that the Vice chancellor’s vehicle was recovered intact at an undisclosed location in Awka, Anambra State.
However, the spokesman did not confirm the ransom money, but sources close to the family said contact has been made and money up to the sum of N200 million demanded.
Amaraizu, said the police were on top of the situation.
