On January 21, a Nigerian man named Daniel Yunusa asserted that he successfully fled from a kidnappers’ hideout. In a widely circulated video, Daniel narrated that he, along with five siblings and friends, was abducted while driving to Kogi state and taken into the forest. Daniel explained that he managed to escape and sought help, filming himself in an unknown location. In one of the videos, he appealed to Nigerians for assistance, expressing uncertainty about his location and the way back to safety.
Subsequently, Daniel shared another video featuring his vehicle, which had been damaged by gunshots from the kidnappers. He recorded himself recounting the ordeal to military officers and passersby. Daniel urged Nigerians to avoid traveling by road and pleaded for support in rescuing his brothers, who he claimed were still held captive by the kidnappers.
