Jason Pass, a 47-year-old individual, is currently evading authorities after he fatally shot and killed a father and his stepson in the corridor of a Brooklyn apartment, following a dispute over noise.
Law enforcement officials in the United States are actively engaged in a manhunt for Jason Pass, the man responsible for the crime. The tragic incident, where Pass pulled out a firearm and killed the victims, identified as Bladimy Mathurin, 47, and his stepson Chinwai Mode, 27, was captured on a hallway security camera.
The security footage appears to depict Pass, who resides on the third floor of 1418 Brooklyn Avenue, confronting his neighboring residents. In the video, Mathurin can be seen holding a pair of scissors to Pass’s neck at one point, while his wife attempts to intervene.
Subsequently, Pass made offensive gestures multiple times to the victims, and he then calmly entered the elevator and left the scene.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), Pass had lodged complaints with 311 six times since March 2022 regarding what he perceived as loud floor hammering by his upstairs neighbors. The noise complaints primarily pertained to people walking, and it was revealed that the upstairs apartment lacked carpeting, contributing to the noise issues.
The building’s management had received numerous complaints from both sides, and while mediation had been promised, it had not been completed. Following Pass banging on the ceiling and the victims responding by banging on the floor, Pass later kicked their door. This led to a confrontation between Pass and the victims when they stepped outside to address the situation.
