A 70 year old man, Saidi Materi of Tunga-Goro, Minna, Niger State has been remanded in prison custody for raping a 12 year old girl in his bedroom.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Abdullahi Aliyu had told the Magistrate Court presided over by Hassan Mohammed, that the octogenarian had on the sometime in November this had carnal knowlegde of the girl without her consent.
The girl allegedly went into the old man’s apartment to drink water when she was allegedly raped.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Inspector Aliyu however prayed the court to remand the accused person in prison to allow for further investigation and transfer of the matter to a court of competent jurisdiction.
