7 Celebrity Fights Of 2016 We Won’t Forget In A Hurry

Generally, the year 2016 has been largely eventful as it has served us more drama than Nollywood or their ‘big brother’ Hollywood could ever muster.

It is a year that our favourite celebrities served us a healthy dose of the drama with some public falling-out that generated a lot of excitement, shock, bewilderment and sometimes, scorn.

Below in no particular order, some of the most memorable celebrity beef of the fast winding-down year.

1. That Famous Olamide/Don Jazzy Spat: This particular case is by far the most interesting celebrity beef of the year under review. Coming at the very beginning of the year at the ‘Headies’. The organisers had awarded the much coveted ‘Next Rated’ category to MAVIN Records’ Reekado Banks, with the furious Olamide who believed his prodigy, ‘Lil Kesh’ was more deserving of the honour. The result was Olamide’s now famous outburst, “Lil Kesh is our Next Rated artiste, fuck that shit, baba iyayan, street ti take over. Every fucking single was a hit, back to back from ‘Lyrically’ to ‘Shoki’ to ‘Efejoku’, koni da fun iya anybody.”  The internet loved it and it became a sensation even long after the beef was settled by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

2. That Shocking Kemi Olunloyo Vs Jide Kosoko Beef: It is not everyday that we see people get attacked with so much venom by a random unrelated person a day after they lost someone dear to them. Sadly, that was the case with veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, who lost his dear wife, Henrietta, on June, 6, 2016. Kemi Olunloyo left everyone piqued when she accused the bereaved Jide Kosoko of killing his wives (Henrietta was the third woman Jide lost after his first two wives died in the space of one year in the nineties). Kemi said of him, “NOLLYWOOD AND RITUALISM Actor Jide Kosoko’s third wife just died. The light skin bleaching ‪#‎Nollywood actor. This makes it three wives dead. He is now technically a black widower. He should be investigated for ritualism and the occult world. Something I hear is very prevalent in Nollywood.”
Though, Jide declined to directly engage her, a number of pissed Nollywood stars including actress, Dayo Amusa and some of Jide’s relatives took the feisty lady up with barbs going back and forth for weeks.

3. The Childish Wizkid Vs Linda Ikeji Feud: Like some Wizkid fans would claim, it was ‘jejely’ that Wizkid’s Trouble slept before Linda’s ‘Yanga’ woke it. The popular blogger had done a report where she claimed that Starboy was evicted from his Lekki home. Wizkid came roaring back at her on Twitter, calling her a ‘bitch’, and threatening even that his much younger cousin would beat her up. The matter was settled eventually by the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni after Linda reported the singer.

4. When Wizkid And Dammy Krane Became Hooligans: The singing duo brought out the thugs in them on January 15 as they engaged in a scuffle that turned bloody at Club Quilox in Lagos. The event was Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins’ exclusive ‘All Black Party’ and it was star-studded. There were varying reports of how the fight started and ended but an enduring fact was that Wizkid smashed a bottle on Dammy Krane’s head.

5. The Beef That Made Davido Call Uncle Dele Momodu His Boy: This is undoubtedly one of the biggest celebrity fights of the year. The bone of contention was primarily over the custody of the singer’s daughter, ‘Imade’. Davido and his babymama, Sophie (Dele Momodu’s Cousin) threw plenty mud at each other publicly, with Dele Momodu having to intervene at a point when Davido and his family tried to fly the baby abroad without her mother’s consent. Davido further stoked the fire of discord when he chorused “Mr. Dele Na My Boy, Dele Na My Boy” on Humble Smiths song Osinachi.

6. That Angry Outburst From Kaffy To Davido: Do dancers get disrespected by artistes? Well, Kaffy thought so and let out some pent-up emotions when she accused Davido of having little or no regard for her craft.

7. The Shameful Tiwa Savage, Teebillz Episode: Few could believe their eyes when Tunji Balogun a.k.a Tee Billz, accused his wife of sleeping around with  and contemplated suicide in April. In a flurry of Instagram posts, deleted about three hours after they were posted, Tee Billz said he sacrificed his life for Tiwa Savage, buy that Tiwa’s mother wanted to turn him into what she turned Tiwa’s dad to. Then came Tiwa’s counter accusations where she also accused Teebillz of infidelity, drug use and being broke.
