A young man with psychiatric history is said to have killed himself by jumping in front of a speeding train just after beheading 66-year-old professor Patricia Ward.
35-year-old Derek Ward allegedly cut off Patricia’s head inside her apartment in Farmingdale, Long Island,
USA, before dragging it outside and leaving it in full view of her neighbours, where onlookers initially thought they were witnessing a macabre Halloween prank, police and witnesses said.
He is said to have then KICKED the severed head about 20 feet before throwing himself in front of a train about 25 minutes later.
Patricia Ward was identified by Farmingdale State College as a longtime professor who taught language arts at the university.
