A businessman abducted in front of his residence has been killed even after the his family paid an installment of the ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
Goddy Nwosu a dealer in pharmaceutical products in Abakaliki, Ebonyi was trailed from his Pharmaceutical shop to his house and abducted last week.
The deceased’s wife, Anurika Nwosu, said she was shocked when she received news of her husband’s death after paying some ransom.
She that the kidnappers followed her husband to their house, where they abducted him.
According to her, she was sitting in front of the house when she heard the horn of her husband’s vehicle and the gate was opened. However, she started hearing gunshots and she heard her husband shout.
She said that she later received a phone call from the kidnappers, demanding a ransom running into millions of naira, and an undisclosed amount was paid. She was shocked when she received news that her husband’s corpse was found near the PDP Secretariat along Enugu/Abakaliki Highway.
When contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Sylvester Igbo, said he was yet to receive the report.
Meanwhile, the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital mortuary, Abakaliki.
