A four-year-old boy Musa Sani who resides in Kakurum Village, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State was, on Sunday, hit in the thigh by a stray bullet from a shooting range in the area.
Buhu Kakurum, who took the boy to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for medical attention, said the boy was hit while he was playing near his father’s house.
“There is a shooting range in our area and it has been there for more than 30 years, and it has made many people in the area live in fear ” he said. “Initially, the shooting range was used by the military, but because of the danger it was posing to our lives, we reported the case to the emir and the soldiers were asked to leave the place. Unfortunately, when the soldiers left, the police cleared the area, and started using it for shooting exercise.”
