Information available have revealed that former Kwara State Governor, Mr. Bukola Saraki allegedly mismanaged over N65 Billion, former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State, N61 Billion and former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff of Borno State, N50 Billion.
Others on the list, which is currently being finalized, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC are former Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State, N35 Billion and former Governor Muhammadu Shinkafi of Zamfara State, N30 Billion.
The document alleged that the funds might have been mismanaged or misappropriated through doggy contracts and over invoicing of projects in their various states.
“This people we call Governors are very wicked with resources meant for their various states. They spend state funds like they are spending their personal money. Nigerians will be shocked at the kind of revelations that will be made soon with the likes of Saraki, Ohakim, Sheriff and Shekarau,” a source hinted pointblanknews.com in confidence.
Already, former Governors Alao Akala of Oyo State, Akwe Doma of Nasarawa State and Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State are currently being charged on allegations bordering on corruption.
Gbenga Daniel is alleged to have misappropriated or diverted N58 billion; Alao Akala,N25 billion and Aliyu Akwe Doma, N18 billion.
Sources hinted that both Saraki, Ohakim, Sheriff, Shekarau and Shinkafi are currently exploiting their network of highly placed friends to lobby the EFCC to back down on their planned arrest.
“I am can confirm to you that at the moment, the other Governors like Saraki, Shinkafi, Shekarau, Sheriff and Ohakim are lobbying their friends in Government to escape arrest but from what I know, I don’t see that happening because the President has no room for such at the moment.”
According to the source who would not want to be named, “as far as I know, President Jonathan has told his aides he is not interested in interceding for anyone of the former Governors and no one should use his name or office for such purpose.”
