Nestle Nigeria launched its new Maggi Chicken recently in Lagos in grand style, amidst fanfare, pomp and pageantry.
Award-winning Nigerian artiste, 2Face Idibia performed some of his old and latest songs in the company of his wife, Annie while comedian Bovi and media personality Toke Makinwa, who recently got an endorsement deal with the Maggi brand, delighted the guests to an evening of rib-cracking jokes especially when they performed their version of the Maggi Chicken dance.
The guests, which comprised of hundreds of Maggi consumers, Nestle Nigeria officials, crème de la crème of the entertainment industry, media practitioners, champions of Lagos kitchens i.e. Ghana High, White House etc., made the launch event a talk-of-the-town.
2face’s wife, Annie Macaulay Idibia narrated how she has, over the years, made her husband’s best meal – yam & beans – especially delicious and tasty with her special secret ingredient, Maggi. She also narrated how she cooked her husband’s first meal – all thanks to Maggi.
While unveiling the new Maggi, Nestlé’s Category Business Manager (Culinary), Guy Kellaway commented: “Maggi is all about innovation, constantly pleasing consumers, always one-step ahead of the game. We are very excited; it’s a new renovated cube, it provides the best colour, aroma and taste to all of your dishes. We encourage everyone to try it. Maggi is available in cube and tablet formats; it is already available for caterers and restaurants in large 800gram powder format.”
Speaking to the press about what informed the decision to re-launch the brand, the Brand Manager for Maggi, Emeka Nwodo stated: “Maggi is the original seasoning and clearly the number one. We have high level of trust and that means that we have to bring the best product into the market. Maggi star cube, which is the original cube, is totally unique, made of fermented soya beans, iodine salt, fortified with iron, best colour, aroma of all chicken seasonings and taste.”
The brand which has been targeting young and old women for many years, has not relented its efforts in acquiring new and old conservatives. In other strategic efforts, Maggi is also appealing to the low rung of the seasoning market. This was why popular restaurants like Ghana High and White House had a corner at the event to give guests wet-tasting experience of local and continental dishes, prepared with Maggi.
MAGGI Chicken Cube is one of the many flavours in Nestlé Nigeria Plc’s seasoning portfolio. Other MAGGI seasoning flavours include MAGGI Star Cube, MAGGI Crayfish, and MAGGI Mix’py in 4 different variants.
