Natasha Osawaru, the rumored partner of iconic musician 2Baba Idibia, has stirred reactions and intensified marriage speculation by referring to herself with his surname.
This comes in the wake of controversy surrounding her alleged relationship with the singer and her recent dismissal as Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.
In a now-viral clip, Natasha is seen introducing herself at an Assembly plenary session using the name “Hon. Natasha Osawaru nee Idibia”, which drew excitement and applause from some fellow lawmakers.
The video has sparked a flood of commentary online, with many netizens questioning her choice of words and her political standing:
- Mary Queen asked, “How did this lady make it into the House of Assembly?”
- Miracle Imo criticized, “You’d expect an honourable to understand basic word usage. Nee Idibia? This is when people on Facebook say ‘shame wear me’ with a fascinator.”
- Obaro Lukman defended her, saying, “People are just bitter she’s enjoying her life. A vibrant lawmaker, and despite the hate, she remains unbothered. That’s what’s frustrating online in-laws. Enjoy yourself, Hon. Natasha Osawaru nee Idibia.”
- Tonia lamented, “Is this how far our lawmakers have fallen? A trained lawyer who can’t differentiate between ‘nee’ and a married name—and her colleagues found it funny. If desperation had a name, it would be this ‘nee Idibia’ situation.”
- Udoh mocked, “Calling herself ‘nee Idibia’—is that your maiden name? See someone who claims to have studied abroad.”
