The family of popular Nigerian musician 2Baba, also known as Innocent Idibia, has filed a petition with the Department of State Services (DSS) following concerns that the singer may be missing.
This was revealed in a formal letter submitted to the DSS by the family’s legal representatives, Anuge, Anuge & Co.
The situation unfolds amid an ongoing dispute between 2Baba and his wife, Annie Idibia. Reports indicate that the singer recently filed for divorce and, during the proceedings, proposed to another woman, Natasha, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, whom he allegedly intends to marry.
In a heartfelt video, 2Baba’s mother made a public appeal, urging Nigerians to plead with Natasha to release her son.
The family’s petition to the DSS, dated February 7, 2025, states:
“We are solicitors to the Idibia family, acting under their firm instructions to seek your urgent intervention regarding the disappearance of Mr. Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Baba. Our clients believe he has been missing since February 10, 2025.”
The letter details that 2Baba left his home for his usual morning walk on February 10 but failed to return. Efforts by his family, staff, and record label to reach him have been unsuccessful, deepening their concerns.
The petition also raises alarms over unusual activity on his social media accounts, where several close associates received messages requesting financial assistance—an action deemed suspicious, as 2Baba is financially secure. This has led the family to suspect that his identity may have been compromised and that he could be held against his will.
“The implications of this situation are deeply troubling, and the possibility of foul play cannot be ruled out. As a responsible family man and dedicated artist, his prolonged silence is alarming,” the letter reads.
The family has urged the DSS to launch an urgent investigation to locate the singer, stressing that his sudden disappearance has left them distressed and placed his music career at risk.
Following the news of the petition, social media users flooded comment sections with reactions, expressing shock and concern over the unfolding events.
