A 27-year old man, Sholanke Yusuf has landed in trouble after he allegedly punched a 55-year old woman, Nwankpa Ego, for abusing him. And she collapsed and died in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
He is now facing a murder charge at Magistrate’s Court Lagos under the Criminal Code.
Yusuf, who is now in prison custody at Ikoyi, reportedly landed a vicious blow on late Ego’s nose for abusing him during a quarrel.
The incident happened at about 9.00 p. m at Olufowobi street, Itire, Lagos where both the defendant and the victim reside.
P.M.NEWS gathered the woman was seriously injured and she started bleeding and later slumped. Before she was rushed to a hospital she was already dead.
She was merely certified dead at the hospital by the doctor and her body was deposited at Isolo mortuary for autopsy.
Yusuf was arrested and charged to court for murder and his plea was not taken.
Rather, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. S.K. Matepo ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody, while his file should be duplicated and sent to the DPP for advice.
