Social media personality Geh Geh has stirred controversy online after stating that African men shouldn’t kneel when proposing to women.
During his appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Geh Geh argued that it doesn’t make sense for a man to kneel while offering a woman what he sees as a favor by marrying her.
He said:
“Naturally, in Africa, men are not supposed to kneel to propose to a woman because you’re doing the woman a favour. It’s like doing someone a favour and still kneeling to beg them. It doesn’t make sense.”
Geh Geh went further, claiming that men don’t truly need marriage, as women gain more from the union.
He explained:
“If we’re being honest, men don’t need marriage for anything. What do I really need a woman for? Nothing. The only thing a man needs a woman for is children, and even without marriage, you can still have them. So if I know I don’t really need you and I’m inviting you into my life, why should I kneel?”
His comments quickly ignited debates online, with Nigerians divided over whether he’s speaking truth or being disrespectful. Fans and critics alike voiced strong opinions, questioning his stance on marriage and gender roles.
Some supporters praised him for being bold, while others criticized him for inconsistency, asking, “If you don’t need women, why you always talk about them?”
The discussion continues as people weigh in on whether men should really stop kneeling to propose, or if Geh Geh is simply chasing attention.
