Nollywood actress and former Big Brother Africa housemate Beverly Osu has once again addressed the long-standing sex scandal involving her and South African dancer Angelo Collins during their time on the reality show in 2013.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Beverly firmly reiterated that contrary to public belief, she did not have sex with Angelo while on the show. She admitted that the scandal had a significant impact on her early career but explained that her actions were fueled by love.
Reflecting on the controversy, Beverly revealed that being deeply in love with Angelo made her overly comfortable around him, which led to misconceptions among viewers.
“I have people who love me for who I truly am. And to be honest, I didn’t do what people accused me of [having sex on live TV]. I was just 20 years old. I brought much more to the Big Brother platform than just that relationship. It was frustrating that the only thing people focused on was the romance, simply because I was in love,” she shared.
She continued: “Every challenge I’ve faced in life has stemmed from love. It’s the greatest gift from God, yet somehow all my issues come from it. I was head over heels for Angelo, which is why I acted so freely around him. I was in a relationship – should I have acted stiff or distant? I was in love.”
Beverly also previously accused Nigerians of contributing to the breakup of her relationship with Angelo Collins after the show.
“One day, the media will say Beverly is with this man, the next day it’s someone else. I don’t even know anymore,” she had stated.
