Ali Ndume, the lawmaker representing the Borno South senatorial district, has dismissed Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, calling him a “maga dog.” The term “maga dog” is street slang used to describe someone who is unreliable and can quickly turn on their benefactors.
During a Friday interview with Channels Television, Ndume responded to questions about whether he was concerned about Bwala. He confidently stated that he is not afraid of Bwala, asserting that the presidential aide has no electoral influence and would not be able to win an election.
Ndume also emphasized that even if Bwala were given a political ticket, he would not succeed in Borno State, pointing out that Bwala had previously run for a senatorial position and lost badly. “Bwala cannot win the House of Assembly. He tried to be a senator—did he get anywhere? I don’t want to talk about him, he’s a maga dog,” Ndume said.
Earlier, Bwala had accused Ndume of secretly meeting with opposition members about the 2027 elections and claimed Ndume was attempting to undermine him. However, Bwala denied any intentions of running for the Borno South Senate seat to replace Ndume. The presidential aide also criticized Ndume for allegedly failing to deliver on his promises to the people of Borno South during his twenty-one years in the National Assembly.
Bwala further accused Ndume of hypocrisy, stating that while Ndume frequently criticizes leaders, he reacts to criticism by encouraging threats of violence against those who speak out against him.
