The tragic killing of 16 northern travelers by a mob in Uromi, Edo State, has sparked widespread outrage. The victims, who were traveling from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to Kano State, were reportedly hunters returning home for the Sallah festival.
In response, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu strongly condemned the attack and directed security agencies in Edo State to launch an investigation, apprehend those responsible, and ensure justice is served.
Ahmed Musa Speaks Out on the Tragedy
Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has expressed his grief and frustration over the killings. Sharing an image of the Nigerian flag, he posted an emotional message on social media, saying:
💔💔 “How did we get here? How did we lose our sense of humanity? Innocent travelers, simply on their way to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, were brutally murdered in Edo State. 😢🔥
“This isn’t about tribe, religion, or background—this is about human lives! When did we become so desensitized to pain? Where is our compassion? Where is our sympathy?”
“We cannot allow this kind of evil to become our new normal. Every life matters. 🕊️ May their souls rest in peace, may their families find strength, and may we, as a people, remember that humanity comes first. 💔🙏🏽”
Musa also included hashtags such as #EveryLifeMatters, #HumanityFirst, #NoToSenselessKillings, #PrayForNigeria, and #WeNeedChange.
His statement has resonated with many Nigerians, with football fans and the public joining him in mourning the tragic loss of lives.
