A tragic event occurred in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, as a building under construction on Oriwu Street collapsed, leading to multiple casualties.
The incident took place around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, trapping several individuals beneath the debris.
According to Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations.
So far, 14 people have been rescued and taken to Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment. Additionally, two bodies have been recovered from the site.
Security personnel are present to maintain order while rescue efforts continue. The exact cause of the collapse remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
