The Nigerian film industry has been hit with yet another tragic loss following the passing of veteran actor Columbus Irosoanga.
His death was officially announced today on Instagram by renowned actress Hilda Dokubo.
Sharing the heartbreaking news, she wrote: “There can’t be a shortage of angels in heaven for them to keep calling the few we have here home like this! This loss is deeply felt by Uniport, Rivers State, and the Nollywood community.”
She added, “Our dear uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the Lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu.”
Columbus Irosoanga was a seasoned actor, television personality, and proud indigene of Okrika, Rivers State.
Beyond his acting career, he also served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt. Some of his most notable works include Issakaba (2003) and 7 Kilometre (2015).
Over the years, he received multiple awards in recognition of his talent, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role (AMAA), Best Actor in a Drama (City People Entertainment Awards), Most Promising Actor in Nigeria (AMVCA), and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Best of Nollywood Awards).
