Denilson Igwe, who is alleged to be the founder of Mark Angel Comedy, has accused his colleague Mark Angel of earning substantial amounts while paying only small stipends to him and the child actor Emmanuella.
Mark Angel Comedy gained popularity around 2014 and was primarily portrayed by the three main cast members: Mark Angel, Denilson Igwe, and Emmanuella. In a recent interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Denilson claimed that he was the one who started the comedy group, while Mark handled their online presence.
According to Denilson, Mark monetized their social media platforms and kept the earnings for himself, except for small monthly payments to Emmanuella. He recounted how Mark bought a car from the earnings but claimed it was a gift.
Denilson accused Mark of withholding the majority of the profits from the team, stating, “I was the one who started Mark Angel Comedy. Mark was like an older brother; he worked as a security guard in Port Harcourt while I did camera work for a man named Ifeanyi. I took his camera, and in our free time, we filmed the comedies. Mark created a Facebook page, and I didn’t even know when it was monetized. Suddenly, in 2014, he bought a car and said he received it as a gift.
“I hadn’t received any money then, and he was paying Emmanuella only N20,000 monthly. In 2016, he gave me N50,000, saying the comedy wasn’t bringing in money, even though we were making $160,000. If you talked about him, he would either threaten you or make you have an accident.”
