EFCC operatives conducted a midnight operation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), resulting in the arrest of an undisclosed number of students. The raid, which occurred at about 2 am on Wednesday, February 14, saw videos circulating on social media depicting EFCC officers allegedly breaking into rooms to apprehend FUTA students. The students initially mistook the officers for kidnappers as they invaded their lodges near Orita Obele. Sources indicate that the students were not only arrested but also subjected to assault and property damage. The EFCC operatives, reportedly from the Benin Zonal office, targeted several student lodges in the vicinity. This incident mirrors a similar occurrence at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), where around 70 students were apprehended during a similar late-night raid by EFCC officials.
