In a ceremony full of pomp and ceremony, the 16th Headies Awards took place on Sunday at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, USA.
The event was dubbed “Celebrating African Renaissance,” and it was emceed by American media personality Terrence J. Odumodublvck and Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro. Young Jonn, Wande Coal, Kcee, Black Sherif, Asake, and other performers enthralled the crowd with thrilling performances.
Rema took home the Best Male Artist of the Year honor, while Asake, who won the highly coveted Next Rated category, walked away with a brand-new automobile.
The same thing happened to Odumodublvck after he was chosen Rookie of the Year: he got a house in Lagos.
After all the back and forth on social media, neither Blaqbonez nor TG Omori got the award for Best Music Video of the Year; Director K won the category.
However, while receiving his award for the Best Rap Album of the Year which he won for ‘The Young Preacher’, Blaqbonez insisted that “TG Omori and I are still the best directors.”
Overall, Rema led with three awards, including Best Male Artiste of the Year, Digital Artiste of the Year and African Artiste Of The Year.
