On Tuesday, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom appeared to withdraw his support for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
Ortom accused Atiku of slandering him as governor and working against the people of Benue.
The governor of Benue State appeared to be enraged by Atiku’s remarks about recent killings in his state by suspected herdsmen.
Remember that Atiku appeared to justify the recent killings in Benue State by Fulani herders by claiming that the atrocities were the result of “sustained clashes between farmers and herders.”
His remarks follow the withdrawal of support for Atiku by the Benue elder statesmen, Minda Leaders of Thought, who accused him of hate speech and profiling of Benue people.
Governor Ortom, on the other hand, accused Atiku of collaborating with Miyetti Allah, a herdsmen group notorious for carrying out heinous killings.
“It was inappropriate for a presidential candidate seeking to rule the people to say such things.”
“It was completely wrong. And it appears that he does not even mention me or consider me to be the Governor of my state,” he said.
