The 9th edition of urbane music and hip culture awards, The Headies, will now hold on Sunday, December 14, 2014 according to an update on the widely anticipated awards provided by its organisers today.

The Headies, notably Nigeria’s most consistent and most credible honours platform, was earlier scheduled to hold on October 25, 2014.

Executive Producer, Ayo Animashaun says the event is making a return to the Eko Convention Centre this year by popular demand.

‘It’s another opportunity to give Nigerians a spectacular show, and we’re working round the clock to do what we’re best known for,’ Animashaun said.

There are twenty-one categories this year, with Phyno and KCEE leading the nominees’ list with five nominations each. Vying for the highly coveted Next Rated prize which comes with a brand new car are Patoranking, Runtown, Orezi, Skales and Yemi Alade in what is undoubtedly the toughest awards yet in the Headies history.

‘It promises to be the best pre-Christmas gift yet,’ Animashaun adds. ‘The artistes can’t wait, our nominees are excited; the entire industry is agog and we’re beyond excited.’
