A village in Turbo is in shock after a form four student from a well known school in the area raped an octogenarian to death.
The 19 year old student from St Jude Secondary School attacked the woman on his way home from school.
Sources who preferred anonymity told the media that the woman had gone to fetch fire wood when the boy ambushed her. Using a piece of wood she was carrying, the student is hit her on the head forcing her to fall on the ground.
He then tore the clothes she was wearing and raped her to death before vanishing.
The woman was not seen by the villagers prompting a search only to be found in a thicket dead with her private parts severely damaged. The bunch of wood she had gone to collect was besides her and the boy’s books were also found at the scene making him the first suspect.
While confirming the incident, area police boss said that a manhunt had been launched to arrest the student who went missing after committing the crime. The police have appealed to the villagers to volunteer any vital information that can lead to his arrest.
The body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
