A 27-year-old man identified as Solomon Mutairu was on Saturday caught shoplifting at about 1:45pm by residents of Baruwa in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Solomon allegedly stole two cartons of Guinness canned stout, three cartons of canned Malta Guinness, one carton of canned Star and two cartons of cannedHeineken beer.
According to the sales boy, who didn’t want his name in print, the suspect came to his shop and demanded for the aforementioned items.
The sales boy said while he was bringing out the goods, two young boys were ordered by the suspect to take the goods to an unknown destination.
The sales boy said the suspect didn’t pay for the commodity and before he could come out of the shop with remaining carton, he had disappeared.
The latter quickly raised alarm and some residents went in search of the suspect.
He said the suspect was caught by residents three streets away from the shop where he carried out the fraudulent act.
The suspect, who spoke with us, said he resides with his parents at Keda Bus stop area in Abesan Estate.
He denied that he shoplifted the items, claiming that he was sent by one Mummy Taiye to go and bring the drinks.
He said his mother is a teacher at Kefa Nursery and Primary School located in the environ while his father was a civil servant.
He claimed to have finished from Abesan Comprehensive Secondary School.
The suspect was handed over to officers from Alagolo Police Station, Ipaja.
