All is now set for the formal defection of the immediate past presidential flag bearer of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), Malam Ibrahim Shekarau to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has put an end to speculations of his rumoured plans to dump APC for PDP.
Already, Shekarau’s home, located on Mundubawa Road of the metropolitan city of Kano, is wearing a new look, preparatory for ceremonies to mark the historic occasion.
It was, however, gathered from sources close to Shekarau that he took the decision to decamp to PDP due to what he described as marginalisation by the leadership of APC.
As at yesterday, Shekarau’s entire home has been draped with PDP flags, an indication that his today’s formal defection to the ruling party is for real, so as to give him a new breathe of life and afford him a platform, from where to pursue his future political ambition.
Also, it was gathered yesterday that Shekarau’s teeming loyalists and supporters have concluded necessary arrangements to massively support their political godfather on the occasion.
It is recalled that Shekarau petitioned the leadership of APC, during which he vehemently rejected the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the five defecting PDP governors and some APC leaders, emphasising that the defecting governors become automatic leaders of APC in their states.
